A cold sequence that gets replies has nothing to do with hacks — and everything to do with whether the prospect believes you understand THEIR business. We coach reps to do that in three sentences.
Built by STAOS — sales coaching & fractional sales management for agencies.
01 How it works
One email, two follow-ups, three subject lines.
Reply rates on cold email average 3.43%. The gap between that and the 10% elite operators reach has almost nothing to do with tooling and everything to do with whether the prospect believes you understand their business.
Prospect role and industry, then the specific pain point you would solve. Specific beats generic every time — "close rate stuck under 20% despite plenty of leads" earns a reply that "improve your sales process" never will.
What you sell, and a one-line proof point: a number plus a recognisable shape of client. Then the CTA and your sign-off. The proof line is doing more work than the offer line, so make it concrete.
You get three subject-line options, the initial email and two follow-ups, plus a live check for spam trigger words, all-caps and length. Copy each block separately into whatever you send from.
02 Questions
Getting replies rather than sends.
Instantly's 2026 benchmark puts the average at 3.43%, top quartile at 5.5% and elite operators at 10%. If you are under 2%, the problem is nearly always relevance or deliverability rather than copy. If you are between 3 and 5%, copy is where the next gain is.
Short enough to read on a phone without scrolling — roughly 75 to 125 words. The instinct to explain everything is the enemy. You are not selling the service in the email, you are selling a fifteen-minute conversation, and those need very different amounts of information.
Two or three after the initial, spaced several days apart, each adding something rather than asking again. This tool generates two because that is where most of the return sits. "Just bumping this" is not a follow-up; it is a reminder that you want something, and it performs accordingly.
Plain and specific. It should look like an email from a person who knows why they are writing, not a campaign. Anything that reads like marketing — capitals, exclamation marks, curiosity-gap tricks — is filtered by the human before the spam checker gets a say.
No, and nothing does. It catches the obvious content problems — trigger words, shouting, excessive length. Deliverability mostly lives elsewhere: domain authentication, sending volume, list quality and whether people mark you as spam. Clean copy on a badly warmed domain still lands in the junk folder.
Personalise the first line and the pain, template the rest. Personalisation beyond the first name lifts reply rates up to 18%, but only where it is relevant — and hand-writing 200 emails a day is not a system anyone sustains. The generator gives you the frame; you supply the sentence that proves you looked.
